Alexa (she/her) is a Filipina multimedia artist, community organizer, and experienced DE&I facilitator partnering as Senior Consultant, Lead Facilitator, and Creative Director for Krystal Klir. She directs all workshops and presentations and manages the development of new material while overseeing the creation of media content. In addition to her partnership with Krystal Klir, Alexa currently leads Focus: HOPE’s Generation of Promise Program, a celebrated social justice and youth leadership program that serves high school students across 15 different Metro Detroit high schools. She also provides customized DEI training and facilitation and creative services in corporate and non-profit sectors across Southeast Michigan.
Alexa previously worked at Ford Motor Company as Community Engagement and Creative Lead and led community-centered mobility innovation projects in partnership with city governments in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Pittsburgh, Miami, Austin and Mexico City.
Alexa hails from Houston, TX, to which she attributes much of her passion for working in and with multicultural communities. She completed her undergraduate at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a BFA in Art and Design and a Minor in Community Action and Social Change. During her time at the University of Michigan, Alexa focused her art practice and studies on decolonization theory and social documentary work.
Throughout her career, Alexa has earned accomplishments such as being a Detroit Equity Action Lab (DEAL) Fellow, Documenting Detroit Photography Fellow, Challenge Detroit Fellow, Entrepinayship Scholar, and she is a recipient of the Detroit City Council Award of Recognition for her dedication to community service. She also sits on the Board of Black America Rising.
In her spare time, Alexa likes to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen, play with her two adorable cats Chima and Pumpkin, and attend local art and music shows.
