Shayla McElroy (she/her) is a trained Mental Health Counselor and Case Manager partnering with Krystal Klir as a Facilitator. She has managed corporate discussions for over 200 corporate leaders in five countries.
Her background and passion is with incarcerated individuals. Having provided substance abuse counseling and rehabilitation services to incarcerated youth and women. She recently moved back to metro Detroit from California, where she served as unit manager for an in-custody substance abuse program for incarcerated women. Upon moving back to Detroit, she joined Krystal Klir to use her skills for improving the systems that harmed the people she has served over the course of her career. Shayla earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hampton University and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University.
In addition to her partnership at Krystal Klir, Shayla works for the City of Detroit for Project Clean Slate, which provides free expungement services to eligible Detroit residents.
Shayla takes great pride in serving her community. She volunteers her time at organizations like Focus: HOPE, where she facilitates diversity, equity, and inclusion training and leads a Black Student Leaders group for the Generation of Promise. She also serves as the social events committee chair for Black Young Professionals of Detroit (BYP).
